vaccines and Tests
Happy Hearts Feline Rescue places a high priority on the health of its cats and kittens. Veterinary care is our single largest expense.
No cat or kitten will be released from our care until it has been spayed or neutered.
When age appropriate, we test for Heartworm and Feline Leukemia and, when tested negative, they are vaccinated against the disease.*
Other mandatory vaccinations given are: Rabies and FRCPCP (Feline Rhinotracheitis, Calici-Panleukopebnia, and Chlamydia Psittaci).
They are treated for parasites, fleas, mites, ticks and worms. Preventive treatment is continued while in our care.
* It is our policy that the animal will be found suitable alternative living arrangements and not euthanized simply because it has feline leukemia.
